Still Life Photoshoot

Yearning for a slower, simpler life...
Many of you who have been following along for a while now know that I love still life, especially the Dutch Masters. The quiet and simple moments they capture are bliss to me. Possibly a sign that we yearn for a slower, simpler life inside of the busyness of today?

The idea of the good life, however, has always drawn me in. As a little girl, staying over at my Nan’s cosy old Federation home, my view of the hallway from her large hand-carved wooden bed was of a quiet painting of a lady casting her gaze over a simple table with a drink, a plate, and her beloved book. I’m so lucky that this painting now hangs in my own home and sets a scene for how I too would love to feel.

For this still life photoshoot, I wanted to create the kind of shots that make my heart sing, humbly inspired by the Greats. Pop over to @frenchconsul to see the full collection of captures being shared through August. This is one of my favourites (above) with our new Heritage Table Runner in all its gorgeous rustic, soft linen texture.
I just love how the soft candlelight casts its glow over our linen Provencal Tea Towels.
Illuminating the grain sack stripe – heaven!
