As I prepare to return to France this August/September after what feels like a very long few years, I wanted to compile for you one of my favourite moments in Paris….after the idea for French Consul began on that 2017 solo trip to Paris, I returned in 2018 to shoot my new collection almost exactly one year later. It was such a pinch-me moment. From quitting my job with no job to go to, wondering what the heck I was doing (this was very un-Virgo of me) and not wanting to commit to just anything going forward in my career, to then flying to Paris last minute and hoping for something more for myself. My Dad had just passed and picking up his ashes in a small styrofoam box for a farewell ceremony was my wake up call. My thinking was ‘if this is how it ends, then what can I make of my life’?
There was no professional photographer that day. In the morning light, just me and my first three linen stripe colours. The shots are soft, muted and so gently Parisian. I hope you love them, and also, I hope you find in them, a moment of joy and courage for yourself ~ Karen x
