How I styled this table : Working with the colours already in my dining room – see the neutrals, browns, blacks and gold in the antique French mirror on the wall – I chose our Fete Table Runner with the black stripe because I love playing with light and dark colours as it draws the eye. The grey stripe Fete Table Runner could also work well but I like the contrast the black creates. I repeated the gold tones with the dried hydrangeas and the little birdcage – both of which feel very Eastery! The birds’ nests were collected from the ground (abandoned) on various walks in the countryside. It’s a simple end of table styling just perfect for an Easter banquet or buffet-style meal with family and friends.
How I styled this table: Who said red is only for Christmas! Our red grain sack stripe (re-stocked just in time for Easter) has a lovely vintage feel so I chose these roses that also had a similar pinky-red beige fade to them for the table centrepiece. You’ll notice two of the Easter eggs on the plate are papier-mâché – I printed out French words, cut them into strips, and glued them over a foam egg purchased from a hobby store. I like to layer plates with a contrasting pattern or colour, and the little ceramic Easter bunny adds a small nod to the season.
TIP: When you don’t have linen napkins at hand but you want to feel a little fancy, fold our Provencal Tea Towel in half, gather in the middle with some jute twine and add a small snippet of greenery that reminds you of Easter. Voila! Place over your plates and your table instantly feels pretty.
